The USS Olympia, the oldest steel navy ship in the world, which was built in 1895; served as the flagship of the US Navy at the Battle of Manila Bay in the Spanish American War; and returned the body of the Unknown Soldier from the battlefields of WW I, sits at its berth at the Independence Seaport Museum in Philadelphia on the Delaware. The ship needs extensive work, including a costly dry-docking to repair its leaking hull, but the museum cannot afford to do the work, and it looking for a new caretaker for the vessel.
